Central First School
Central First School is situated in the heart of Ashington. It is a modern and spacious building which was purpose built in 1997. We have fifteen classrooms equipped with state of the art technology, a large ICT suite which hosts 32 networked computers, a multi-use hall/gymnasium, an extensive library and resource area and excellent outdoor facilities including three play areas and a playing field.
Every child attending Centralhas the opportunity to participate in an increasing range of extra -curricular activities ranging from sports clubs to creative and curriculum based clubs. Our weekly newsletter includes information about upcoming events and issues relating to the life of the school and is very popular with parents.
We have a highly motivated and committed staff. We take immense pride in the way we work and our achievements have been recognised in many ways. Central has received several accolades including the Healthy Schools award, International Schools
award, Creative Partnerships award, Change School status and Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) lead school status. Our desire to build upon these achievements is as strong as ever as we strive to make Central First School an outstanding school.
The school’s mission is to create confident individuals who are both successful learners and responsible citizens by providing a safe, secure and happy school where everyone works together. We aim to create a learning environment where the very best is expected and achieved by all.
We aim to:
Teach our children to be literate and numerate learners who are able to grow physically, creatively and spiritually.
Deliver a curriculum which is challenging whilst enjoyable and interesting.
Provide equal opportunities and entitlement for all in an environment where we promote tolerance, respect and personal responsibility.
The school is as committed to working with the families of our learners as we are with the children themselves. We promote an open door policy offering parents the opportunity to speak to their child’s teacher or other members of staff whenever they need to.
